St. Mary School Council Bylaws were approved in 2003 (click here to access the current Bylaws in MSword format). Since enactment of the 2003 Bylaws, substantial changes have been made to provincial and school board policies pertaining to Councils. In 2009, Council will undertake the work necessary to update this important document. |

| In the interest of our children’s education, all parents, staff and friends of St. Mary (Carleton Place) Catholic School are encouraged to learn, share and grow through their involvement and active participation in the School Council and its initiatives. |

Elections must be organized so that all parents and staff members have the opportunity to vote for their representatives. If applicable, candidates profiles will be the sole method used to inform parents of candidates. They will be:
The election shall be by secret ballot, counted by the school Principal. The names of those elected will be published and posted the day following the election. Members of the Executive, with the exception of the Principal, are elected or appointed annually for a maximum of three (3) consecutive terms. |
